Coffeepunk - Indie Coffee Passport Barista...
This coffee adventure took us to 171 Liberty st. East in the heart of Liberty Village. The building has been built up into a boutique shopping centre. An Akido dojo, cupcakery, a bike shop and a healthcare centre among other things share the space with Barrista Espresso Bar. Barrista was possibly the most elegant of the cafe’s we’ve visited so far. With a bit of a Victorian...

Coffeepunk - Indie Coffee Passport : Cafe Novo...
Today’s coffee adventure took us out to a sun brightened cafe located at 1986 Bloor West. Across from High Park. Unfortunately I was running late for the legions of other things and engagements I had so I didn’t really get a chance to relax and enjoy what I thought was a bright pleasant cafe. My ginger molasses cookie and eggnog latte were delicious. It’s another of many...

Toronto Beer Lovers - Project Xmas at Great Lakes...
This was the Christmas edition of one of my favourite monthly events. Typically Great Lakes Brewing holds Project x on the second Thursday of every month. For Project Xmas the even was moved to the Friday so the could carry on longer and enjoy a holiday party. It turned out quite well with a party room upstairs for the kids so families could come out and enjoy the event. Project x works...

I have been a patron on Moonbean Coffee Co. for many years. With a full array of fair trade coffee and teas as well as cakes and other baked treats. Moonbean as been a a staple in my Toronto Cafe history. I’ve long done my grocery...

Toronto Beer Lovers - Winter cask festival at...
After the Black Oak Brewing Holiday party the night before I had a hard time contemplating drinking again. Until of course I started drinking again. The winter Cask festival turned out to be a really pleasant event for a Sunday afternoon. It was good to be out with the TBL and see them in the same slightly rough shape I was in but still out drinking and enjoying more delicious and inspired cask...

Coffeepunk : Indie Coffee Passport - El Cafecito...
This indie coffee adventure took us out to Bloorcourt between Dufferin and Ossington at 3 Westmoreland El Cafecito. This bright neighbourhood cafe specializes in fair-trade natural coffee and offers Bloorcourt a fine unpretentious place for coffee. I was fond of the photo’s of Toronto venues on the wall and the coffee bags hung around the shop.

Toronto Beer Lovers - Burger Bar Movember...
For this fine Movember fundraiser the burger bar hosted and shared cask beer. Great bluegrass music played over the sound system. Brock the Burger Bar’s proprietor came around and shared the house barrel aged tequila with us. It was beautiful and smooth with a woody complexity. The Chesire Valley IPA was quite good and an excellent accompaniment to my six cheese burger. House ground...

Chronic Mastication November 24 2011
Dinner last night was of the “I really need to do some shopping but I don’t get paid until tomorrow” variety. Very worse for wear perogees pulled from the very depths of my freezer. Boiled to defrost them and fried with slices of sweet potato. Eaten with fresh red peppers and paired with Mill st. Tank House ale. It turned out to be surprising palatable and a pretty decent...

Coffeepunk : Indie Coffee Passport - Holy Oak...
I’ve kept meaning to go to Holy Oak. It’s not like it’s out of my way as it’s right beside my laundromat. I just never made it inside before. Which is another neat thing about the Indie Coffee Passport even the places in your own neighbourhood it gives you that push to actually go inside. Once in there I found it had more of a bar atmosphere than a cafe. It’s...

Yesterdays beer November 17 2011
After working late. I met some of the Toronto Beer Lovers over at Ciro’s at Bloor and Lansdowne. Despite living only a few moments away I had never been there before. Having a good group from he TBL there made it the perfect opportunity to check it out. Whether or not I was fond of the bar I was guaranteed good company. Looking for something strong and dark I ordered St. Peter’s Winter...
