Toronto Beer Lovers - Oaktoberfest at Black Oak...
Rounding out a pretty full day of good coffee and food was going out to Black Oak Brewing for their Oaktoberfest celebration. Everything we have ever done with Ken and Black Oak has been a pleasant and more than enjoyable experience and this was no exception. With a half dozen beers to choose from and amazing food provided by Nancy at Local 4 it was another great event with our friends at Black...

Chronic Mastication Grilled Cheese October 21 2011
After the morning’s Indie Coffee adventure the plan was to venture to Kensington Market and visit the Burger Bar. Once there we going the Burger Bar was pretty full and decided to try out the Grilled Cheese at 66 and a half Nassau st. I got the Daily Special. A grilled cheese consisting of apple, cheddar, onion and bacon on light rye bread. Served with what tasted like baked corn chips it...

Coffeepunk : Indie Coffee Passport - Mylk and...
In an effort to get to all the cafes involved with the Indie Coffee Passport we travelled out to Hogtown an had a fine walk through an evolving and vivacious section of our beautiful city. As with other areas in Toronto Hogtown has seen ups and downs. Recently a wave of gentrification has come through and brought about a spirited redirection to the area. Long plagued and downtrodden a...

Yesterday's Beer October 20 2011
After the tour of the AGO with he Toronto beer lovers we braved the rain and went ove to Sin and Redemption. Sin and Tedemption has quite a good list of Belgiun beer on tap. Belgiun beer not being my particular favourite I found solace in Fullers Honeydew ale. Sweet and drinkable I had a few pints along with a fine club sandwich, really good fries and good conversation with my fellow Toronto Beer...

Toronto Beer Lovers : AGO & Sin and Redemption...
Following up on an idea proposed by our illustrious beer queen. I booked a tour of the Art Gallery of Ontario followed by drinks at Sin and Redempion. Despite the rain and wind it really turned out to be a pleasant evening out. Initially beginning with an appropriate group of seven we enjoyed a lovely wander through the AGO. It was a fun experience as each of us had a different level of experience...

Coffeepunk : Indie Coffee Passport T.A.N. Coffee...
On the way to go to the Art Gallery of Ontario my illustrious Indie Coffee partner and I braved the fall rain and ran around the corner to visit T.A.N. Coffee at 37 Baldwin. Baldwin to me seemed to be an enclave of hidden little hidden food treasures. Sporting Mexican, Japanese and Italian venues among others I haven’t had the pleasure of exploring. Baldwin also has a T.A.N. Coffee Cafe. A...

Yesterday's Beer October 14 2011
After the our Indie Coffee adventure on the fringe of the Danforth . We wandered downtown. I was looking for a new pair of boots I had worn mine out walking all over the city and other places like my self guided walking tour of New York. After shopping and wandering we headed over to Bar Wellington. Where I enjoyed a Wellington dark and checked out the refurbished and expanded premises. The new...

Coffeepunk : Indie Coffee Passport Si Espresso Bar...
My Indie Coffee Passport partner and I ran over to Broadview and Danforth to visit Si Espresso Bar. Si proved to be a great little coffee find. Really nice atmosphere, fresh baked goods and some exceptional coffee. I’ll have to dream up excuses to be out in the neighbourhood as I’ve been dreaming of my cappuccino ever since.

Toronto Beer Lovers : Project X at Great Lakes...
The Second Thursday of every month Great Lakes Brewery holds Project X. It’s an opportunity for the brewery to try out new beer ideas and share them with adoring craft beer fans. With great local beer and food catered by local businesses Project x is one of my favourite regular events. The Project x beers I tried this week were the Black Guy ale, which was a nice pale beer. Casked Pumpkin...

Yesterday's Beer October 12 2011
When looking for something to drink out of my fridge I most often go with Known, Knowns rather than unkown knowns. Part of that is that I want what I want. often Throughout the last several months what that has been is a smooth ale with a strong hoppy character. It’s suited the food I eat over the summer months. Fresh local produce and even my carnivourous forays into barbecuing over the...

Yesterday's beer October 11 2011
Weird. It’s my one hundredth post. I’m just in from the gym and am utterly exhausted and really don’t have much to say. So I’ll just post photo’s of the two favourites I had yesterdays and go find beer for tonight and get ready for tomorrows “Yesterday’s Beer”. Besides today’s beer is far more interesting than yesterdays or tomorrow’s.

Chronic Mastication October 11 2011
It’s pretty great having an Ali Baba’s near my house. It’s been nice to have the different options from falafel to fish, chicken and beef as far as the sandwiches and platters go. They also have nice salads and a selection of pastires. The daily specials are worth while and I rarely miss the two for one falafel wraps on Tuesday. I almost always get it with the intent of saving...

Chronic Mastication : Apache Burger
Apache Burger in my mind boasts the best onion rings in the GTA and some of the best burgers as well. Located up the hill from Kipling station at 5236 Dundas west. there was a period where I was working late most days and hit Apache nearly every day. My Veggie burger with cheese and onion rings don’t ever last very long. the ring’s hardly make it down the hill to Kipling station...

Coffeepunk: Dark Horse Espresso Bar October 10...
One of my favourite places to go for coffee in Toronto is Dark Horse Espresso Bar. I’ve only been to the Chinatown location at 215 Spadina avenue. My drink of choice there is an americano. They make an incredible one which always makes me want to turn around for a second. The ginger cookies are quite the experience as well.

Yesterday's Beer October 07 2011
Yesterday was a pretty full day. Between work, doctors appointments and hitting a pharmacy I also voted and continued on with my Indie Coffee Passport hitting the second of the thirty cafes I’m going to visit between now and March. Armed with a delicious cappuccino from Seven Grams Espresso Bar my companion and I wander through the streets of our sometimes beautiful city and headed down to...

Coffeepunk : Indie Coffee Passport - Seven Grams...
After running around I met up with a friend who also had herself an Indie Coffee Passport. After much deliberation. We decided to head to north of Yorkville and visit Seven Grams Espresso Bar at 131 Avenue road. It turned out to be quite a stylish place with exceptional coffee. At Avenue Road and Dupont it’s not exactly a place I would have found on my own but it was certainly a pleasant...

Coffeepunk : Indie Coffee Passport Wibke's...
I heard about the 2010 Indie Coffee Passport when there was only a week or two left in the time period where the passport was valid. This year I’m a bit more on the ball and aiming to tackle all thirty participating cafe’s in on the program. For twenty five dollars you get four dollars towards an espresso based drink at each of the thirty participating coffee shops. Working out to a...

Yesterday's Beer October 06 2011
Between Great Lakes, Black Oak and Muskoka and their beautiful hoppy beers why would I need anything else. I could just keep drinking all of their beer. Especially the hopped up ales and be perfectly happy, forever. It’s like music, good songs are good songs and you always go back to listen to the ones you love but there is always some other song that’ll catch you and inspire you. ...

Yesterday's Beer October 5th 2011
After working thirteen hours and dreaming about a beer and a nap for he last half of that I wasn’t in the mood to experiment with my choices. Armed with a falafel wrap I delved into my fridge and come out with my last Muskoka Mad Tom IPA. Hoppy and cold it complimented my dinner well and left me satisfied.
But, don’t take my word for it. Drink the beer!
